Pedro Costa

Pedro Costa is Professor at the Department of Political Economy at Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) and Director of DINAMIA’CET-IUL (Research Center on Socioeconomic Change and Territory), where he coordinates the “Cities and Territories” research group. Economist, PhD in Urban and Regional Planning, he works primarily in the areas of territorial development, planning, and cultural economics. His research activity has been mostly centred on the fields of territorial planning, local and regional development, urban studies, territorial economics and, in particular, on cultural economics and on the study of the relations between cultural and creative activities and territory. He has published several books and articles, and presented papers at scientific and policy-oriented meetings in these various fields. He has also been a consultant and coordinated and participated in multiple research projects in these areas, at national and international levels. Among many other projects, he recently coordinated the “Cultural Strategies for the City of Lisbon” and collaborated in two Creative Europe funded projects (FLÂNEUR - New Urban Narratives; and PARALLEL – European Photo Based Platform).
