OutsideInInsideOut

From 26th till 29th August I took part in a residency programme OutsideInInsideOutInsideOutOutsideIn (oiioiooi) in the heart of the nature reservoir Sachsischew Swiss on the border of Germany and the Czech Republic. The oiioiooi residency occupies for 2 weeks the TorHausGallery with a process-orientated format focused on the exchange of knowledge & practices between all individual participants as well as surrounding nature and other-than-human actors.

I was invited first to observe the particular processes, help with cooking the meals, doing technical set-ups and eventually provoke a conversation and thinking on the potential of working with knowledge by using the Reshape tarot cards.

For this occasion, I created a new reading pattern, called after the residency format, OutsideInInsideOut. Through 4 cards we are observing and exploring “what benefits/practices/thoughts we can take from this experience (of being in the residency) to design our own systems/constellations/relationships” - in other words how to abstract obtained experience/knowledge/emotion and transform them in our future processes.

Our conversation was finished with a proposal for a micro action that came from the particular thoughts that were shared among us. The proposal goes like this:

Collect one moment from your recent experience that inspired your thinking and remediate it into a body practice… may it be a gesture or a small dance…

Re-enact this movement whenever you are about to enter a new process. Use this embodied knowledge to design your environment. Keep the experience in your muscles. Share it with others.
