Carla Sofia Galli

Carla Sofia Galli, anthropologist, born in Milan in 1986. I hold a I level degree in art history and a II level degree in anthropological and ethnological sciences. Since 2015 I have been working in anthropology and cultural heritage. I did post-graduate studies in anthropological cultural heritage at the University of Milan-Bicocca and in museum studies at the Reinwardt Academie, Amsterdam University of Fine Arts. Recently, as a visiting research associate I collaborated and carried out research for the network National Museum of World Cultures of The Netherlands (Research Center for Material Culture).

I have engaged myself in the development of programs for museums audience in collaboration with artists, academics, activists, diasporic communities, documenting best practices and guidelines. Back in Milan, I am working on the development of innovative ideas related to inatangible heritage and citizenship.

I am currently working on a project in Milan, led by the Municipality of Milan and Forum città mondo (a network of about 600 cultural associations) in partnership with other three bodies. The project focuses on activativate citizenship and involves visual and performing arts: a path of research-action, activation of citizenship and intercultural dialogue, through methodologies including: historical research, qualitative narrative interview, exploration of urban spaces, use of audiovisual and photographic arts as tools to promote intercultural dialogue, collective mapping workshops, writing and storytelling. On the other hand, it aims to create an archive of sources, analogical and digital exploiting the potential of new technologies. The archive can be made available as an ever-changing resource both for the inhabitants and those interested in learning, through the contributions of the protagonists, the past and present stories, as well as future imagery, of the territory.
